The Departments of Health and Human Services and Education have partnered to launch Birth to 5: Watch Me Thrive!, a coordinated effort to encourage developmental and behavioral screening and support for children, families, and the providers who care for them. Birth to Five: Watch Me Thrive! will bring communities together around four core missions:
The Birth To Five: Watch Me Thrive! Initiative offers three resources in Spanish. These provider guides were made available yesterday and are not yet posted on the initiative's website so they are an exclusive release for this group! The provider guides can be found on the Birth to Five: Watch Me Thrive! website in English. The Spanish guides are attached for your convenience.
The resources are:
- A Home Visitor's Guide for Developmental and Behavioral Screening - An Early Care and Education Provider's Guide for Developmental and Behavioral Screening - Birth To Five: Watch Me Thrive! One Pager
The "Learn the Signs. Act Early" program has a wealth of research based resources designed to promote awareness of healthy developmental milestones in early childhood, the importance of tracking each child's development and the importance of acting early if there are concerns. Once on the website, click on "Milestones" and you will see a suite of materials, such as Milestone Moments Booklets, developmental milestone checklists, etc. The materials are free and can be customized for communities and programs to put their own contact information on them. All of the materials are available in English, Spanish, and a few other languages as well.
You will have an opportunity to ask questions and to provide feedback so that we can make this a stronger screening initiative for all young children and their families.
