September 28th Pre-GRC Annual Meeting Workshop on GTO's Resource Reporting Metric/Methodology The Geothermal Technologies Office invites you to attend a pre-conference workshop at the Geothermal Resources Council Annual Meeting on the Geothermal Technologies Office (GTO) Resource Reporting Metric/Methodology effort: GTO Resource Reporting Metric/Methodology Workshop Sunday, September 28, 2014 1:00 – 5:00 PM PT Oregon Convention Center Portland, Oregon In 2013, NREL and LBNL began a collaborative project to help GTO develop a standardized approach to resource reporting. The goal of this project is to provide one or more metrics (of a set of potential metrics) for measuring the impact of GTO-funded projects. This will aid both in proposal evaluations, and in monitoring project progress and milestones along the way. The metrics should be comprehensible by industry and non-industry alike, so that budget decision makers (e.g. Congress), can understand impacts of previous funding decisions. These metrics could be employed by the GTO to evaluate the impact of its research, development and deployment (RD&D) funding on furthering the identification, exploration and development of geothermal resources in the United States. An initial workshop on this topic was held at the GEA Summit in Reno, Nevada on August 6th to introduce this project to the geothermal community. A second workshop will be held on Sunday, September, 28, prior to the GRC Annual Meeting. The September workshop will begin with an overview of the progress to date on this effort followed by more in-depth breakout sessions to gather industry and expert feedback and recommendations. We are seeking experts in the geothermal community with experience in geothermal resource characterization who are interested in providing input for the development of these reporting metrics and terminologies. However, all backgrounds and areas of expertise are welcome and encouraged to attend and participate. This workshop is free. However, for planning purposes please register by September 22nd. If you have any additional questions, please contact Kate Young at katherine.young@nrel.gov. We look forward to seeing you in Portland!
