Sammons Small Business Center grand opening set for Tuesday
Dallas - Mayor Mike Rawlings will officiate at the grand opening of the Sammons Small Business Center, to be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday July 8 at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library, 1515 Young St., fifth floor.
"Libraries have a long track record of helping people access information and make sense of complex issues," said Dallas Public Library Director Jo Giudice. "We will draw on our traditional strengths and try to fill gaps, but we won't hesitate to make referrals when appropriate. It takes a village to foster a culture of microenterprise development."
The Center will partner with other local agencies to provide classes and panel discussions on practical subjects, including accessing capital, site analysis and starting food and craft-related businesses. Software will include databases with legal forms, demographic data, business plan templates, Geographic Information Systems and basic office software.
Small group meeting spaces and workstations will be accessible to those working on a business or marketing plan and a document-to-cloud scanner and a tablet with Skype (for interviewing) will also be available.
"We are pleased to partner with the City of Dallas and the Dallas Public Library to provide a location where Dallas entrepreneurs can meet, research relevant business information and grow new and exciting businesses which will create jobs and contribute to the Dallas economy," said Sammons Enterprises, Inc. Chief Executive Officer Heather Kreager.
