Tripp County FSA News

The Tripp County Farm Service Agency (FSA) is taking County Committee nominations through August 1, 2014 for the Local Administrative Area (LAA) 2. LAA 2 consists of Wright, Star Prairie, Dog Ear, McNeely, Pleasant View, Elliston, Holsclaw, Wortman, Willow Creek, Lark, Stewart, Lincoln, Beaver Creek, Huggins, Millboro, Rames, Keya Paha, and Valley townships. The current committee member for this area is David Cahoy. Voting will take place this fall, and the selected member will take office on January 1, 2015.

To be eligible to serve on an FSA county committee, a person must participate or cooperate in a program administered by FSA, be eligible to vote in a county committee election, and reside in the local administrative area in which the person is a candidate.

Producers may nominate themselves, and organizations representing minority and women may also nominate candidates. To become a nominee, eligible individuals must sign form FSA-669A. The form and other valuable information about FSA county committee elections are available online at: http://www.fsa.usda.gov/elections and scroll down to the Nomination Form. You may also stop in at the office to complete a nomination form, or to review the LAA 2 eligible voter's list.

Nomination forms for the 2014 election must be postmarked or received in the local USDA Service Center by close of business on August 1, 2014.

FSA county committee members make decisions on disaster and conservation programs, emergency programs, commodity price support loan programs and other important agricultural issues. Members serve three-year terms. Committees consist of three to five members who are elected by eligible local producers.

Information regarding FSA programs may be obtained at any FSA office, as well as on the web at http://www.fsa.usda.gov.
