Friday 06/20/14
Patchy light African dust should continue over the eastern two-thirds of the state along and east of a line from Big Bend to the Guadalupe Mountains and could possibly raise the daily PM2.5 AQI to "Moderate" levels over parts of this area. An intense African dust cloud is expected to move into South Texas by mid-day, resulting in increasing particulate as the dust cloud moves inland. Elsewhere in far West Texas, moderate winds and lower background levels should help to keep air quality in the "Good" range.
Saturday 06/21/14
Intense African dust should continue over South Texas and could raise the daily PM2.5 AQI to "Moderate" or possibly higher levels in parts of the Brownsville-McAllen, Laredo, and Corpus Christi areas. Patchy light African dust should continue over much of the remaining eastern two-thirds of the state along and east of a line from Big Bend to Monahans and could possibly raise the daily PM2.5 AQI to "Moderate" levels over parts of this area. If incoming background levels are high enough, winds may be light enough for ozone to reach "Moderate" levels in the El Paso area, with highest concentrations in the afternoon and early evening.
Sunday 06/22/14 Outlook
The intense African dust cloud should spread to cover much of Southeast Texas and could raise the daily PM2.5 AQI to "Moderate" or possibly higher levels in parts of the Houston and Beaumont-Port Arthur areas. African dust should continue over much of the remaining eastern two-thirds of the state along and east of a line from Big Bend to Monahans to Dalhart and will likely raise the daily PM2.5 AQI to "Moderate" levels over most of this area. Elsewhere in far West Texas, moderate winds and lower background levels should help to keep air quality in the "Good" range.
Monday 06/23/14 Outlook
African dust should continue over much of the eastern two-thirds of the state along and east of a line from Del Rio to Midland to Lubbock to Childress and will likely raise the daily PM2.5 AQI to "Moderate" levels over most of this area. Elsewhere in far West Texas, moderate winds and lower background levels should help to keep air quality in the "Good" range.
Tuesday 06/24/14 Extended Outlook
Patchy light African dust should continue over the eastern two-thirds of the state along and east of a line from Big Bend to Monahans and could possibly raise the daily PM2.5 AQI to "Moderate" levels over parts of this area.
