On Wednesday, Secretary Jacob J. Lew delivered remarks and participated in a moderated conversation on the U.S. economy at The Economic Club of New York. Secretary Lew's remarks examined the economic challenges facing the country as it looks beyond the recession.  He discussed the responsibility both government and business have to make choices that will increase U.S. competitiveness, create more good-paying jobs, expand opportunity and strengthen innovation and investment.

Secretary Lew said, ""If we take the right steps, our economy will be primed to take advantage of the next innovation.  Doing so will require an engaged American workforce, a business sector investing in America, and a government whose policies are aimed at the future and shared prosperity."
