Farmers Encouraged to Report Losses Farmers are urged to report losses from natural disaster such as excessive rainfall, drought, and tornadoes resulting in losses of crops, livestock, fencing, farmland and farm buildings. The report of losses starts the disaster designation process, according to Jim Giffin, CED Jefferson/Sevier/Cocke Farm Service Agency. The local Emergency Board reviews farm losses and can recommend approval of Disaster Designation. If the county is designated a natural disaster, all qualified farmers are eligible for low interest emergency loans and certain disaster assistance programs.
