Reminders from the Department of the Treasury's Office of Consumer Policy 1) Treasury Financial Empowerment Innovation Fund The Treasury Department's Office of Consumer Policy (OCP) is accepting proposals under the Financial Empowerment Innovation Fund to spur the development and testing of innovative strategies to increase access to financial services and improve financial decision making skills. OCP is eager to support pilots and tests of new products and approaches, including those under development, and to fund evaluations of existing interventions, strategies and products. Go to http://www.treasury.gov/InnovationFund for the official request for proposals. OCP will award approximately $6 million via contracts for research, pilots and evaluations in three broad areas: payments (particularly government payments); higher education decision-making, and financial capability. Applicants will submit brief "white papers" by June 27. Those with the most promising ideas will be requested to submit full proposals by August 13. The competition is open to for-profit as well as non-profit organizations. 2) Public Briefing on the Treasury Innovation Fund Treasury will host a public briefing on the Innovation Fund and procedures for submitting proposals on Thursday, May 29 from 12:45 – 2:00 p.m. at the Department of the Treasury, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20220. Interested individuals are invited to participate in person or via webcast. Registration information is available at http://www.treasury.gov/InnovationFund and below.
